With the report "Natural Capital and Climate Policy - Synergies and Conflicts", the first report of the project "Natural Capital Germany - TEEB DE", the German follow-up project of the international TEEB initiative, is presented in its detailed long version.

The report was led by Prof. Dr. Volkmar Hartje and the discipline Landscape Economy at Technical University Berlin.

The aim of this report is to show, from an economic perspective, synergies between climate protection and adaptation to climate change on the one hand and conservation of natural capital, its services and biodiversity on the other hand. Further, possible ecosystem-based solutions are examined, which could reduce or remove conflicts between these two policy areas.

Besides the now available long version of the Natural Capital Germany climate report, a summary for decision makers was published in 2014. The English version of the summary is now also available.

The first topic-based report of "Natural Capital Germany - TEEB DE" deals with the interplay between climate change, the use of ecosystem services and nature conservation. Main adressees are public and administrative decision makers as well as representatives from business, associations and academia.

How do biodiversity friendly land use modalities and the related ecosystem services help to reduce global warming? How can ecosystems be implemented as natural green infrastructures that aim to mitigate, and allow for adaptation to, global warming? What are the challenges for biodiversity and ecosystems in the presence of global warming and the envisaged German Energiewende?

The report summary was launched on the 12th of February, 2014, within the context of the 4th annual meeting of the Climate Service Center at Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research.
